Swanson Pinot Grigio 2009
Looking for something tasty to go with your Christmas bird? The Swanson Pinot Grigio 2009 will step up to the plate! The days when Pinot Grigio sat dutifully at the children's table, as the overblown Chardonnays of the world played with the big boys, have come to an end. Intuition and love of the grape prompted Clarke Swanson to plant this much-maligned grape on his Oakville estate some 20 years ago. The result, year after year, is a stunner: vibrant aromas, flavors of ripe peach and pear, and a clean goodbye kiss will leave you feeling strangely tingly, giggly even—and possessed by the perfectly outrageous notion of pairing it with caviar and potato chips (sounds crazy, but it’s oh so good!), the centerpiece of a picnic in bed or a sunny afternoon doing nothing at all. Wanna know what a Pinot Grigio grape tastes like on the vine? Buy a case and find out; this grape loses nothing in translation. $26.00

Adelaida Pavanne 2009
The 2009 Adelaida Pavanne is sourced exclusively from the neighboring Glenrose Vineyard, where Rhône varieties are the specialty. The vines are planted on steep, devigorating chalky soils in the marine influenced hills of west Paso Robles. Pavanne is Adelaida’s proprietary Rhône white blend. Combining three aromatic grape varieties, the wine emphasizes the creamy richness of Roussanne balanced by the flinty, crisp minerality of Grenache Blanc and the ephemeral floral accents of Viognier. First impressions of almond paste and a fleshy stone fruit mélange, lead into reflections of an indefinable stony quality, hinting of water that has percolated down through layers of mineral rock. This would make an excellent choice for an appetizer or course or think turkey – it’s right around the corner!

Charles Smith Pinot Grigio, Evergreen Vineyard, Columbia Valley 2010
The 2010 Charles Smith Pinot Grigio, Evergreen Vineyard, Columbia Valley, comes from vines planted in 1998. The vineyard rows lie along a stretch of steep cliffs above the Columbia River, in an area that currently falls within the broad Columbia Valley AVA, and soon to be one of the state’s newest AVA’s - The Ancient Lakes. A cooler site due to river influence, the soils are composed of fragmented basalt, gravel, silt, and caliche deposited during ice age floods. This site produces fruit with sublime mineral character and the acid balance that winemakers dream of. This wine shimmers, glistening pale straw nectar. It is terroir driven - think mineral and stone. There are great aromas and flavors of Bosc pear, Washington apple, orange zest and honeysuckle. Flavor galore - Italian inspired, locally grown.

Palmina Pinot Grigio 2010
The 2010 Palmina Pinot Grigio is a beautiful pale-gold - the color of diffused sunlight on an early summer morning – with a brilliant clarity. This 2010 vintage is beautifully aromatic, with notes of nectar, green pear, quince and a hint of sesame seed. Lively and yet round on the palate with lemon curd and more pear flavors mingling with lychee, marjoram spice and a gravelly earthy streak of flinty summer rain. Highly aromatic, beautifully balanced, flavorful and refreshing, the 2010 Pinot Grigio is extremely versatile with food. It is also lovely on its own as an aperitif, picnic wine or as a well deserved glass of wine after a hard workday. Please enjoy in its youth for ultimate enjoyment.

Signorello "Seta" 2008

"Seta" is Italian for silk, which appropriately describes the lush silky blend of 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc from Signorello, sourced from low-yielding vines on the Silverado Trail in the Oak Knoll district. The pale straw-gold color of the 2008 vintage invites you to aromas of white peach, caramel and citrus. The full bodied palate has gentle spices with hints of cantaloupe, honeydew melon and vanilla. Fresh and substantial, with stone and tropical fruit flavors complemented by a hint of toasty barrel. The minerality is silky and seductive with great balanced acidity.

Swanson Pinot Grigio 2009
Vibrant aromas and flavors of ripe peach and pear, layers of honeyed almond and a crisp, clean goodbye kiss will leave you feeling strangely tingly, giggly even—and possessed by the perfectly outrageous notion of pairing it with caviar and potato chips (as we do in the Salon), the centerpiece of a picnic in bed or a sunny afternoon doing nothing at all. Wanna know what a Pinot Grigio grape tastes like on the vine? Buy a case and find out; this grape loses nothing in translation.

Sineann Pinot Gris 2009
This 2009 Sineann Pinot Gris follows on the heels of the 2007 and 2008, two of the best white wines Sineann has made. All of the fruit came from the venerated Wyeast Vineyard, owned by Sineann’s very good friends Dick and Christie Reed, situated on a slope not far from Mt. Hood (Wyeast is the native American name for Mt. Hood) at 1600 feet of elevation. Warm, dry days and cool nights serve to ripen the fruit with great natural acidity. Ripeness with acidity is the holy grail for winemakers and Wyeast brings it again and again. In its youth, the wine is very aromatic, a bit like a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, though with a Pinot Gris twist. Also like an NZ SB, the wine has wonderfully refreshing natural acidity, which should take it far with a variety of foods. In addition to the acidity and aromatics, the Pinot Gris has wonderful depth and complexity of fruit with a terrific texture. Enjoy with sushi or grilled ahi.

Adam Lazarre Pinot Blanc 2008
We love Pinot Blanc, particularly those of the Alto Adige and Alsace. They can be rich, racy, and even full-throttled but still maintain a subtle elegance, balancing stone fruit with a vibrant acidity that allows the wine to be paired with an insane variety of foods. The 2008 Adam Lazarre Pinot Blanc has a style that falls somewhere in-between: tank fermentation with obscenely long lees contact for mouthfeel and sweetness while blending in a small percentage of barrel fermented Pinot Blanc to add a layer of coconut and complexity.

Michel-Schlumberger 2010 Pinot Blanc
The nose of the Michel-Schlumberger 2010 Pinot Blanc is delicate yet complex, with hints of star fruit, light jasmine Meyer lemon, along with touches of vanilla and gentle hints of honey. Citrus and peach notes are prominent through the palate. The finish is zippy and zesty with a touch of white pepper. What impresses us most about this Pinot Blanc is how amazingly clean, alive and refreshing it is. This is a fun wine for warm weather, yet still a serious and well made one.

Cambria Viognier 2009
The vines for the Cambria Viognier 2009 rest on a south-facing slope at the edge of the Cambria Estate near Santa Barbara. Seventeen miles to the west, the Pacific Ocean makes its presence known most days with driving winds and fog. The 2009 Viognier is a compelling as the landscape itself. It opens with a blast of tropical fruit. Generous, ripe and vivid with citrus blossom, lime, peach and passion fruit, with hints of vanilla. This is very smooth, with a touch of creaminess.

Ca' Secco Sparkling Wine
Ca' Secco is a fun, light and refreshing soft sparkling wine with fruit and flowery notes and a hint of minerality that makes it incredibly easy to drink, especially when very cold. This zesty, nearly dry white wine comes from an unusual mix of grapes: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Muscat— fermented a second time in pressurized, temperature-controlled tanks, where it becomes sparkling before bottling. Ca’Momi are the only ones making a true prosecco style wine in the US. This refreshing and gently sparkling white wine has hints of tropical flavors with delicate notes of pear, apples, and lemon zest.

Darioush 2009 Signature Viognier
The Darioush estate grown Viognier derives its unique style from a four-acre vineyard site in the Oak Knoll appellation. The cool micro-climate of the vineyard allows this temperamental varietal to slowly develop robust and concentrated floral and fruit characteristics. The fruit, and resulting wine, is minimally handled to express its pure and fragrant nature. Bright and alluring fragrances of macadamia nut, guava and honeysuckle introduce the distinctive 2009 Signature Viognier. Notable crisp green apple acidity pleases the palate while delightful flavors of Asian pear, star fruit and white nectarine harmonize with a nuanced finish accented by orange zest, clove and toffee.

Inman Family Wines 2009 Pinot Gris
At Inman Family Wines, they craft a stylish and distinctly individualistic 2009 Pinot Gris that represents the unique growing conditions of the Russian River Valley. The cool region and well-drained soils ripen the grapes slowly, allowing fully mature flavors to develop while preserving a crisp, elegance. Its delicate aromas, attractive flavors, opulent texture and balanced acidity make Pinot Gris an ideal food wine. The wine pairs nicely with vegetable dishes, appetizers and simply prepared fish such as salmon and halibut and shellfish, particularly crab and scallops. Pinot Gris' good acidity and slightly spicy characteristics complement the herbs and spices found in Thai and Indian cuisine.

This wine is balanced and refreshing to pair with cheeses, light summer pastas, spicy Asian dishes or seafood.

  Bollinger La Grand Annee 1999

Founded in 1829 and still owned and managed by the Bollinger family, this is a truly great winery!  The grapes for the 1999 La Grand Annee come exclusively from Grands and Premiers Crus. 17 villages have entered in the 1999 blend, 82% from Grands Crus and 18% from Premiers Crus. The blend of La Grande Année 1999 is composed of 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay.  La Grande Année is the Prestige Cuvée of Champagne Bollinger. It is only produced when exceptional quality harvests occur, and is the expression of Bollinger’s know-how. More than the illustration of the vintage particularity, La Grande Année is the result of the Bollinger style, of its exceptional “terroir” and traditional wine making techniques. La Grande Année develops a beautiful rounded structure and combines rich, complex and intense aromas, the expression of which changes according to the characteristics of the vintage.  Sale price $133.00 (was $160.00)

  Monte Volpe Tocai Friulano 2007
A summer refresher and a pleasant change from the usual Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs – The 2007 Monte Volpe Tocai Friulano!  Tocai is native to and the most widely planted grape variety in the Friuli Province of Northeastern Italy. The Tocai Friulano name is said to be derived from the local word for the small juice glass used to serve wine in taverns and restaurants. The Friulan’s call the grape “the brother of the sauvignon” because of the growing characteristics of the vines; however that is where all similarity ends. The grape has no connection to Tokaji or France’s Tokay d’Alsace. In Mendocino County, this grape produces wines that are richly honeyed and floral.  This wine is rich and intensely fruity. It greets you with aromas of grapefruit, allspice and honeysuckle and unveils a subtle complexity of toasty, creamy oak. Balanced acidity and a lingering finish makes this wine a benchmark for all other Tocai’s to pursue.

Pinot Grigio is quickly becoming one of the most popular white grape varieties in the world. Up on Fox Mountain, the Monte Volpe people, namely Greg Graziano and friends have released a Pinot Grigio that rivals the best you have ever tasted, and perhaps exceeds that by light years.   Adelsheim Pinot Blanc 2008, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Esteemed in Collio and Alto Adige, tolerated in Alsace, abused in California, Pinot blanc has found an important home in Oregon. The same climate and soils, which have made Oregon Pinot noir and Pinot gris famous, also work well for Pinot blanc, giving us wines that are racy yet bold in character. This 2008 begins with peach, citrus zest, melon and floral aromas. On the palate, find meyer lemon and casaba melon flavors and refreshing acidity. It is a suberb accompaniment to a wide range of foods–from shellfish, to quiche to mildly spicy Asian food–or is simply wonderful on its own as an apéritif.
